Joan E. Derrig-Heacox, MM
Certified Spiritual Director

Joan E. Derrig-Heacox’s ministry, Seeking God’s Presence-Healing the Wounded Heart is devoted to helping others awaken to God’s loving and healing presence so they may live open to the love, hope and joy that God promises. Having personally experienced the suffering of illness, the challenges of parenting four children into adulthood, and the pain of a 26 year marriage that ended in divorce, Joan was drawn into a deeper relationship with God and a call to serve others.

Joan E. Derrig-Heacox graduated from Ursuline College with a Masters in Ministry in May 2005.  Joan is a certified Spiritual Director, graduate of Haden Institute, a member of Spiritual Directors International (SDI) and honors the SDI Guidelines of Ethics. Joan is also a certified Pastoral Care Specialist.

She was the Director of Religious Education and Pastoral Associate at St. Rita Parish in Solon, Ohio. Joan is certified as a Lay Ecclesial Minister by Bishop Richard Lenon, Catholic Diocese of Cleveland. Joan adheres to diocesan codes of conduct, standards for ministry. Joan is a member of NALM – National Association of Lay Ministers.

Joan was the Religious Coordinator and Youth Leader at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Joan currently lives in Wake Forest, NC, providing spiritual direction, writing and speaking with those who are seeking God’s Presence, desire to heal their wounded hearts and experience joy and abundance.
